As an Investments and M&A Associate (f/m/x) in the German business unit you will play a key role in shaping the future of renewable energy projects by supporting deal sourcing and structuring, financial modelling, and financial analysis. Your expertise will help drive our growth initiatives, make informed investment decisions, and contribute to Zelestra’s mission of making decarbonization a reality.
Responsibilities
- Financial Model and Business Case ownership: Create, update, and maintain financial models (PV, Wind, BESS) for all investment decisions; prepare business cases by coordinating with internal teams such as Commercial, Development, Engineering, Tax, Finance, etc; run scenarios and sensitivities to support sound decision-making.
- End-to-end M&A ownership: Source and evaluate new investment opportunities and execute selected projects providing overall transaction coordination (project team management, due diligence, external advisor coordination, valuation provision, contract review and negotiation support).
- Contribution to Zelestra’s “client first” strategy: Support our Commercial team to assess pricing and returns for new opportunities.
- Evaluation of the development pipeline: Assist Business Development team in evaluating the existing portfolio, co-development activities, and early-stage project optimization.
- Support for the Structured Finance team: Contribute to project finance structuring by modelling financing options and supporting lender discussions (e.g. debt sizing, cash flow distributions).
- Governance and Processes: Prepare materials for investment committees and executive boards; help build internal tools and templates, and support documentation of best practices.
- Reporting: Assist central corporate departments within Zelestra with reporting activities and deliver input from the German business unit.
Job Requirements
- Several years of experience in financial modelling and valuation, ideally within the renewable energy sector or similar industries; first experience in M&A or project finance is a plus.
- Strong analytical mindset, structured and diligent working style, and eagerness to learn.
- Excellent organizational skills; ideally some experience in project coordination or execution.
- Strong stakeholder management and intercultural communication skills paired with excellent communication skills across all levels.
- Hands-on, resilient, and adaptable in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented, reliable, and self-driven with a high level of ownership.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
- Fluent in English and German (both required).
- University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
