Position Summary
This is for future opportunities.
The Director of Project Development will lead Zelestra’s development strategy, manage a team of developers, and drive projects from early-stage development through construction readiness. This role requires strong experience in permitting, land entitlements, interconnection, community engagement, and key markets including ERCOT, PJM, MISO, and SPP.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, environmental studies, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of renewable energy project development experience, with a proven track record advancing multiple projects to NTP or COD.
- Strong leadership and team management experience, with success mentoring and growing development teams.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience managing community relations and addressing permitting challenges.
- Financial acumen, with ability to structure and evaluate project economics and risks.
- Highly organized, adaptive, and effective in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 30%, as needed.
Position Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project developers and associates.
- Align team priorities with Zelestra’s Corporate and U.S. Business Unit goals.
- Provide executive-level updates on progress, risks, and mitigation plans.
Project Development Execution
- Oversee utility-scale solar, wind, and storage development from early stage through construction readiness.
- Manage land, permitting, environmental studies, interconnection, and site control.
- Build relationships with utilities, landowners, communities, and key stakeholders to reduce development risk.
Commercial & Strategic Alignment
- Partner with Finance, Legal, and Engineering on project design, commercial terms, and financing needs.
- Manage budgets, schedules, KPIs, and documentation controls.
- Monitor market, policy, queue reform, and transmission trends to support portfolio strategy.
