Mission

En Zelestra Latam, we are looking for a Project H&S Specialist to join our Babilonia Project, working on site (La Joya, Arequipa, Peru).

The main purpose of this role is to ensure the implementation, compliance, and continuous improvement of the Occupational Health & Safety Management System during the construction phase, acting as the Owner’s representative (SPV) before contractors, authorities, and other stakeholders. This position will also be responsible for identifying and controlling risks, leading audits, planning and executing H&S initiatives, and overseeing the proper execution of the EPC’s Occupational Risk Prevention Plan, ensuring compliance with current regulations and strengthening a solid preventive culture. All of the above is aimed at safeguarding the safety and integrity of everyone present at the company’s facilities, in line with internal guidelines and applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Identify deviations from the Safety Plan during project execution by conducting task inspections, ensuring proper application of procedures, and following up on corrective measures in response to potential incidents.
  • Identify applicable legislation, standards, ordinances, regulations, and health and safety requirements, and periodically assess compliance to ensure adherence, from the perspective of the facility owner.
  • Order the stoppage of work whenever, in your judgment, tasks are being carried out under conditions that pose a safety risk to workers.
  • Issue Non-Conformities related to your area, reporting them and monitoring their closure.
  • Prepare and submit the health and safety reports required by the relevant authorities applicable to the facility owner, within established deadlines.
  • Participate in external audits of the management system and follow up on corrective actions to be implemented.
  • Review Client reports related to Health & Safety.
  • Attend internal follow-up meetings and meetings with Clients.
  • Monitor occupational risk prevention programs.
  • Conduct internal audits and regulatory compliance assessments for the project.
  • Follow up on incident investigations, identify root causes, and propose corrective and preventive actions.
  • Represent the company before regulatory authorities during inspections or official requests.
  • Verify compliance with the EPC’s Occupational Risk Prevention Plan.
  • Advise the Health & Safety team and other departments to ensure compliance with legal obligations related to health and safety.
  • Oversee the overall management of the EPC’s Health & Safety team.
  • Hire any external services required to ensure legal compliance.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related professional qualification (5 years of study).
  • Registered/licensed professional.
  • At least 4 years of experience in the construction sector for electric power projects.
  • Occupational Health & Safety specialization course.
  • High-risk activities courses.
  • Driver’s license A-1.
