Mission
The Customer Origination Director will be responsible for implementing the commercial strategy and business development initiatives within the unit, focusing on the origination of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and the development of innovative energy products.
Reporting to the BU Chief Commercial Officer, this role is pivotal in positioning the BU as a leader in the renewable energy market.
The Customer Origination Director will work closely with the development, finance, legal and operational teams to ensure that the BU meets its origination and revenue targets and aligns with the company's strategic goals across key technologies, including Wind, Solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
Responsibilities
- Identify and originate new PPA opportunities with corporate and industrial offtakers in Spain, building and managing a robust pipeline of potential customers across different sectors and technologies.
- Lead the origination and negotiation of PPAs with customers, ensuring deal structures and commercial terms align with the BU's objectives and are financially viable for both parties.
- Collaborate closely with the BU Chief Commercial Officer and internal teams (legal, development, structuring, finance) to move deals efficiently from origination through to contract execution.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at target companies, energy consultants, brokers, and industry associations in the Spanish market to generate and advance business opportunities.
- Work with the BU CCO and the structuring team to develop tailored energy product offerings and commercial structures that meet the evolving needs of Spanish customers, leveraging market insights and Zelestra’s project portfolio.
- Monitor the Spanish energy market, regulatory developments, and competitive landscape to identify emerging origination opportunities and provide actionable intelligence to the BU CCO.
- Represent Zelestra at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings in Spain, enhancing brand visibility and positioning the company as a trusted renewable energy partner.
- Track and report on origination KPIs and deal pipeline metrics, ensuring accountability for individual targets and contributing to the BU’s overall commercial objectives in Spain.
- Bring innovative thinking to deal structures and origination approaches, proposing new business models and creative commercial solutions that differentiate Zelestra in the Spanish market.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the BU and global commercial teams, sharing market knowledge and best practices to enhance overall commercial performance.
- Promote ethical conduct and ensure strict adherence to Zelestra’s crime prevention and anti-corruption framework, acting in alignment with corporate values and navigating the Spanish regulatory environment with integrity.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, or a related field. An MBA or postgraduate specialisation in energy or sustainability is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (level C1).
- 10+ years of experience in B2B commercial roles focused on energy origination, PPA sales, or corporate energy procurement, preferably within the renewable energy sector in Spain.
- Demonstrable track record of originating and closing energy supply or PPA contracts with corporate or industrial customers.
- Strong network and market knowledge within the Spanish energy landscape is highly valued.
- Position requires availability for travel to engage with customers and partners within the BU’s region.
