Mission

Zelestra Italia is seeking an Institutional Communication & Media Relations Specialist to support stakeholder engagement, institutional relations, media relations, and communication activities for renewable energy and BESS projects across Italy.

This role sits at the core of portfolio development and social acceptance, reporting directly to the Director of Institutional Affairs and Public Policies, and working closely with business development, legal, and operations, as well as corporate sustainability, security and communications teams, to ensure strong relationships with local communities, institutions, media, and key stakeholders.

This is a high-impact position with exposure to senior leadership and external stakeholders across national, regional, and local levels.

 

 

Responsibilities

Institutional Communication & Media Relations

  • Support the development and execution of institutional communication strategies for +1.4 GW RES and BESS projects in Italy
  • Build and maintain relationships with national, regional, and local media outlets
  • Support preparation of press releases, media briefings, and communication materials
  • Monitor media coverage and local sentiment related to projects and energy transition topics
  • Support reactive communication and reputational risk management at local level
  • Coordinate with corporate communications team to ensure alignment of messaging and brand positioning

 

Community Engagement & Local Public Affairs

  • Build and maintain relationships with local authorities and community stakeholders
  • Support stakeholder mapping and engagement plans for project development phases
  • Support the design and implementation of community engagement and social acceptance strategies
  • Monitor local dynamics, stakeholder positions, and potential project risks
  • Support development of local value creation initiatives and community benefit programs
  • Collaborate with sustainability team on social impact initiatives

 

Events & Local Communication

  • Support organization of institutional visits, project inaugurations, and local events
  • Coordinate participation of Italian SLT in local and national conferences and industry events
  • Support development of communication materials for events and stakeholder engagement activities

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Development, Legal, Operations, HSE, and corporate ESG, security, and communications teams
  • Support project teams in stakeholder engagement activities during permitting, development, construction, and operation phases
  • Ensure consistent messaging across institutional and local communication channels

 

Institutional Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor institutional, political, and community developments impacting project execution
  • Prepare stakeholder briefings, engagement reports, and risk assessments
  • Support internal governance processes and reporting to senior management

 

 

Job Requirements

Education

Degree in Political Science, Communications, International Relations, Economics, or related fields.

 

Professional Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in public affairs, PR, or communications
  • Experience in energy, renewables, or related sectors preferred
  • Experience working with national and local media and institutional stakeholders
  • Experience supporting project development and permitting processes is a plus

 

Technical Skills

  • Understanding of the Italian institutional landscape (national, regional, local)
  • Knowledge of renewable energy sector and permitting processes preferred
  • Stakeholder mapping and engagement planning experience
  • Media relations and communication experience
  • Event organization experience
  • Strong PowerPoint and Gen-AI skills
  • English C1 (professional level) and fluent Italian
