Contract Director Latam

Mission

En Zelestra, we are looking for a Contract Director to join our Latam Business Unit. Their main mission will be to lead the end-to-end management of the company’s main contracts within the Operations area (EPC, BOP/BOS, main equipment supply, O&M/LTSA), ensuring contractual compliance, protecting Zelestra LATAM’s economic interests, and mitigating legal, technical, and financial risks throughout the project life cycle. All of the above, in accordance with corporate guidelines, in line with applicable regulations, and under the highest Compliance standards.

Responsibilities

Contract governance

• Define standards for: contract administration, change management, and claims control.

• Implement corporate contractual policies and procedures.

• Ensure contractual consistency across projects.

Administration of EPC and supply contracts

• Lead the criteria for day-to-day contract management together with the project execution team and the O&M/AMS team: EPC / EPCM, main equipment contracts, O&M contracts.

• Interpret technical, commercial, and legal clauses.

• Ensure compliance with: scope, schedule, warranties, and performance.

Change management

• Evaluate, negotiate, and approve—together with project teams—change orders, scope variations, and cost and schedule impacts.

• Monitor, together with the project team, deviations vs. the original contract.

• Coordinate with Engineering and Construction.

Claims and disputes

• Lead the strategy for: claims prevention, active management of received claims, and preparation of own claims.

• Coordinate: technical support, internal and external legal counsel, independent experts (if applicable).

• Prepare cases for: direct negotiation, mediation, and arbitration (if necessary).

Penalties, warranties, and close-out

• Manage, in coordination with the project team: delay LDs, performance penalties, bank and technical guarantees.

• Support the project team in: Take Over / Provisional Acceptance / Final Acceptance, contract close-out and release of guarantees.

• Ensure proper handover to O&M.

Job Requirements

• Titulado(a) de Derecho o Ingeniería (Industrial, Comercial, Civil, Eléctrica, Mecánica).
• Deseable postgrado o MBA, Certificación PMP o similar,
• Al menos 7 años de experiencia comprobada en energía, infraestructura o proyectos industriales en Latinoamérica.
• Experiencia comprobable liderando negociaciones de alto impacto económico.
• Exposición regional (Chile, Perú, Colombia u otros países LATAM).
• Deseable experiencia en negociación y control de contratos tanto en español como en inglés.
• Inglés avanzado.
